About Us

Since 1970, the Department of Nutritional Sciences has advanced understanding of the relationship between food and health through teaching, research, and community engagement. Our faculty study nutrition from the molecular level to entire populations, addressing challenges that affect health, wellness, and disease prevention around the world. Through collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based discovery, we help improve quality of life while preparing future leaders in health-related fields.

The Department of Nutritional Sciences is committed to advancing health through integrated instruction, innovation, and community service. As part of UConn’s land-grant mission, we prepare future leaders while generating knowledge that improves lives and strengthens communities. Through our collective and collaborative action, we seek to be a premier academic department that excels in the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge in nutrition.
