Professional Experience and Training

  • Assistant Professor, Department of Nutritional Sciences, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT (2023 – Present)
  • Assistant Professor, Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training, Springfield College, MA (2020 – 2023)

Research Interests

My research interests focus on optimizing athlete health and sport performance through investigations into low energy availability, nutritional status, nutritional interventions, body composition, and sport technology.

  • Relationships among external loads, heart rate variability, sleep, recovery, and biomarkers (testosterone, cortisol, CRP, CK, IL-6).
  • Relationships among energy availability, bone density, injury, and sport performance.
  • Relationships among nutrition knowledge, dietary intake, and body composition.
  • The effect of seasonal accumulated workloads on nutritional status (i.e., vitamin D, iron, omega-3, protein).
  • Nutritional interventions to reduce the risk of injury, pain, and soreness.
  • Nutritional interventions to improve body composition, bone density, sport performance, and recovery.
